I then inserted pale lavender carnations between the flowers already in place.  

Don't feel you have to be "too perfect" . . . use your eyes to pick out open spaces that need additional flowers.

Keep rotating the flowers around, turning the arrangement with an eye on spacing and continuing to fill in the design.  I am leaving open some spaces, because I plan to add alstroemeria to the design after these pale lavender carnations.

I distributed the pale lavender carnations all around the bouquet.

You see where I've left open spaces for the insertion of the last flowers.
