Learn how to get the most out of every piece of greenery. Israeli ruscus is one of my favorites, as the smooth green leaves and glossy finish looks very nice in all kinds of different arrangements.
Israeli ruscus can be cut into separate pieces. Cut with a sharp floral knife or snip with floral cutters.
I strip off enough leaves to create a smooth stem on the bottom for inserting into the foam. The stripped off leaves can be put into a plastic bag and left in the refrigerator to use in corsages and boutonnieres later.
The smooth stem inserts easily into the wet foam.
Put your fingers close to the foam and push the stem gently into the foam, working it in. Do this carefully, as more and more stems may begin to collide in a smaller block of foam.
