Focal Flowers

Now I could use bigger focal flowers (such as Asiatic or Oriental Lilies) to give impact and a larger size flower.  I was trying to keep the design in a manageable budget, however, so decided to showcase these beautiful carnations, which come in lovely shades of purple.

I didn't cut this flower too short, because I want to come straight out from the bar, giving some more depth perception to the design.

Even though the flower head is smaller, the bright purple of the carnation still draws your eye in.

Notice I'm cutting stems shorter with each new addition, but coming more straight out instead of angled.

I had cut my gladiolus into shorter pieces, but still used the shortest bloom right in the center.  Don't waste any of those precious flowers!
